I can't believe it!  A good friend and art collector of mine has paid tribute to my art by having it tattooed on her arm!!!!!  NEDDA you've been immortalized again! :)

I painted one mermaid and they just got snagged on my 5th?  I am so relieved because I need to raise funds for frames for my March show!  So I haven't bought myself anything for Christmas but if my show does well, I'll collect then  ;)

Here's wishing you promises fulfilled in 2007 that 2006 didn't deliver!  On top of that good health, peace, joy and money!!!! xoxox

OSWOA - Original Small Works Of Art

Hello!  Do you feel like ACEO has kind of faded a bit?  My friend and I have come up with a way to revive some interest in miniature on Ebay.  We would like to invite you dear artists to join us on our launch Ebay auction on September 28th (Thursday September 28). 

The size is 4"x6".  Which is a standard size for many frames and albums.  We hope that this format will have longevity because it is bigger than art cards and again because it is easily framed.  It would also make a more impressive original art on greeting cards as some people do with ACEO etc., etc., etc.

Details on OSWOA is described in an actual website my friend put together.  It explains more things that I can here .  But I'd be happy to respond to your questions as best I can (as always because I loves ya!)

We have hyped up artists in our local art club so we have a few all ready to auction on the 28th.  My first (official) one is the one pictured here.  We will probably list our first ones with some (old) ACEOs we have that didn't move before lol  But this way, hopefully we can spread the word on this movement YEAH!   

I think it's exciting.  Those who dare to jump in on the launch date will be remembered in our website as the first listers!!!  With your permission, we would feature your OSWOA on the website so I suggest you email your image to dustie"at"dustie.com

1. Create ORIGINAL art that is size 4"x6"/6"x4"
2. List on Ebay/ArtByUS/Etsy September 28 (over 1 week to go)
3. Write OSWOA on the title of your auction
4. Create as many OSWOA as you can!

Hello gang!  Long time absence from me, I seem to be getting worse at this by the months =\   Thank you to those who have seeked me out - I'm just so damned loved I'm touched by emails, cards and phone calls **MUAHS**  And I'm also touched by those who gave me room by not seeking me out **MUAHS** to you sweethearts too!  What the heck **BIG WET MUAHS** all around!

Other than Mom just finishing her 3-week vacation, I've just been feeling a little caught in a thick fog of life lately.  But certainly, Mom's visit has been quite healing with all her home-cooked meals and by just being around. =)  You should see our yard and all our birds - everybody seems happier and all the plants are thriving like they haven't in about a year!

I was also quite upset with all the sp@hm I got with my previous E107 domain blog because I didn't know anybody else who used it so I didn't know how to fight all the evil sp@hmmers that I kept getting.  I couldn't moderate the comments.   Also, LJ was publishing a million previous posts each time I updateed there which completely humiliated me that I was messing up all my friend's LJ!!!  I'm so sorry!!!!

So after much encouragement from Leanne, I've converted to WordPress which Scott installed in our server.  So far I'm digging it.  i'm still finding my way around and it will evolve a few times I'm sure.  If you want to visit just click on the image.  I've uploaded some older posts just to not have look so bare.  I will eventually have your feeds in my blog so I can easily read up on you.

last day of art class yay

I happened to step out of the house and looked up the sky to this view.  Like a silver lining in the sky eh?  Perhaps a blessing sign.

My first day teaching the watercolor class went well, in fact it was fun :)  I was happy that they stayed engaged in what I was teaching for the entirety of the class about 3 hours; these are 8-12 year olds after all.  There was one boy who was the clown of the class.  I tore up masking tape and put them all over him told the class if they needed some for the masking tape technique that they knew where to get them hehe

Today I taught them basic watercolor techniques which after demo, they applied to blank watercolors bookmarks.  Then I had each do a presentation and show what techniques they used.  And they talked about what their favorite technique was.   No troublemakers thank goodness, all were particularly courteous.  I said, "Do you draw do anime characters?  Are you going to see Monster House?"  Blank looks.  I guess the fact these are home schooled kids might mean they don't know those things hmmm...  Then the boy sings, "Happy Trails to you...."  I asked how he knew that cowboy song.  He said he watches Lawrence Welk Show o_O  I swear I'm in the Twilight Zone o_O

Well I checked my Paypal just in case, but I wasn't gonna click on that Respond Now button.  I reported it to Ebay spoof. 

How's it hangin'?  I've been chillin' in this heat being a good girl with art.

I wanted to post a picture of my Dad but couldn't find one immediately :(  It's a heart sinking moment when I realized I didn't include my Dad in my family gallery.  Everybody is there including grandparent's of Scott's he'd never met.  The one missing on the bottom right is his Mom but the last housekeeper knocked it off the wall and broke the frame.  The housekeeper who preceded her, loaded her rags with furniture oil and obviously contaminated the wall grrrrrrr.  Now I don't know how to fix the paint.

So how come my Mom or Scott or anybody didn't ask about my Dad.  I'm so disappointed in them.  It was a really bad oversight on my part since he was my very first favorite playmate.  We were buddies and the joy I get from life was a gift from him. 

We don't celebrate "Father's Day" or "Mother's Day" in the Philippines.  But imagine if that were the case here for me, I wouldn't have realized I didn't acknowledge one of my most favorite friends on my family wall! 

I have a favorite picture of him I hope I can find.  It's him hiding behind his only movie award, equivalent to a best director Oscar.  He made many Filipino actors famous with his direction and screenplay writing, some actors he personally discovered.  He contributed first man to shed tears in (Filipino) silver screen and first erotic films to our culture.  I wonder if anybody ever picked up on those.  But he only got one award sadly, though it didn't seem to discourage him.  Oh, he did get a lifetime achievement (posthumous) award given to him.  It was so sad I couldn't attend because I was here.

A man who gave me so much more than any materialistic thing.  He showed me how to appreciate little victories and the how to love all people.  Miss you bud!!!!!!

Ok so I have opened another LJ account so I can embed into a webpage on my website.  It wil be a paid account and username artbyerika (I will make a formal announcement if/when I pursue it). 

QUESTION: Is it hard to embed?  I am so ignorant on customizing.  Should i just go with tables?  Scott, the husband is too busy to help me otherwise, I wouldn't have this problem.  But he is busy with more important things so it's understandable even though my blog has not really reached a finished state going onto 2nd year.

Any input would be much welcome.  Happy Memorial Day weekend - I'll understand if I don't get comments *sigh*  I'll just have to repost :p
